About

Mixtre.com is the home for a cyclist, hiker, and occasional runner for a guy named Scott (that’s me!). I’m 49 years old now, but I’ve been riding bikes obsessively since I was 5. My nickname is “EarlyMorningRider”, which comes from the fact that early mornings are my favorite time to ride – mostly because of the fact that vigorous activity at the very start of my day is what my body responds to best. I used to ride in the evenings after work, but I’m getting too old for that crap now…

Cycling has always been a part of my life. I grew up out in the country in southeastern Michigan, and my bike and I were inseparable until I got my driver’s license in 1990. Luckily it only took a few years for my love of biking to return and I’ve been riding thousands miles a year ever since.

I moved to San Diego in 1997, which only made my love of cycling even stronger. I discovered what real single track was, how to ride on busy streets, and most importantly – how to feel confident wearing spandex!

One final point I’d like to make: this website is more of a personal journal of mine than anything else. I don’t really mind if I’m talking to myself, but I’m making it public in the hopes that some of the information I post will be helpful to cyclists who need ideas for cycling around San Diego.
