I did it. I just dropped $1860 this morning on a bike and accessories (clipless pedals, shoes, lights). Ugh. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I figure it’s a “healthy” purchase – unlike a TV or computer or car – and I’ll get a ton of use out of it. It’s a red and white 2007 Specialized Allez Comp, which is a model up from what I went in there to buy (an Allez Elite). But I’m super happy with this bike – this thing is a freakin’ rocket, and light as a feather too.

Now that the road bike is taken care of, the mountain bike needs to be replaced. That’ll be next year though, because I’ve already spent way too much money on this one.
Anyway, I came home for lunch while they prepped it for delivery, and then I had to walk back to the bike shop (UC Cylclery in La Jolla) to pick it up since it wouldn’t fit in my car. It was a 30-minute walk, and entirely up hill, but worth every step of it to get that bike. I’d also like to mention that how impressed I am with the staff of UC Cyclery – they spent a lot of time with me to make sure that the bike was set up perfect.

It’s going to be a fun bike ride tonight!
